One of the things I enjoy doing is keeping a few bird feeders & seeing what I can attract to our yard. It has become a most favorite past time for Sophia & myself. Last week she exclaimed to me that she loves watching my bird feeders as my yard has so many kinds of animals. Along with the birds, we pretty much are attracting every squirrel, chipmunk & woodchuck in a 5 mile radius!!! But, heck, Sophia is loving it & it has brought her such joy that it is worth it.
I ran out to run some errands today. Upon my return, at my bird feeder was a HUGE turkey!! Seriously, it was huge & it was hysterical to watch him trying to peck at the bird feeder. I ran inside to get my dad as I had to enjoy the sight with somebody!!! As it was, by the time I came out of the house with my dad, some neighborhood boys were also excited at the sight of this turkey.
All of this got me to thinking…..A bird feeder is meant to draw birds. BUT good seed in that feeder…and well….you just never know what you will draw.
In Matthew 5, Christ states:
  “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (v. 14-16)
“Since Jesus is the Light of the world, so also should His followers reflect that light. Like lights from a city illuminating the dark countryside or a lamp inside a house providing light for all within it, Christians must let their good works shine before the rest of the world so that others may praise God.” (New American Commentary). It is not for self-glorification but to bring glory to our God that we do anything. But in the so doing, we draw others to our Lord.
There we have it – just shine, just give light & there is no telling who you will draw to Christ.
