This morning I woke up wanting to read “a promise”. I wanted a promise from God’s Word. Something to hold onto today. Amazing how He delivers!!! I read Psalm 145 and this is what stood out….

“8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. 14 The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. 18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 20 The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.”

God’s Word gives us, in the portion, seven statements about who our God is and/or what He does. As I read these verses, I asked myself – “Do I truly believe that God is each of those in MY life?” So easy to believe that He is that way in the lives of others, but I need to believe that He is that way in my life. Only as I come to know Him & trust His character, will I be able to walk in faith believing. I need to believe….

  • that He is gracious & compassionate to me
  • that He is good to me
  • that He is faithful to all his promises & loving toward all he has made & that means me as He has created me
  • that He will uphold me when I fall & lift me when I am bowed down
  • that He is righteous in all His ways
  • that He is near me when I call on Him
  • that He watches over all who love Him which means that He is watching over me & my family

Each one of these are powerful promises. This morning as I read this portion, the promise that I needed to read & recognize with my heart & mind was there. It brought me strength to know, 1 – that He will be watching over us today & 2 – that because He is faithful to all His promises, He would be faithful to watch over all of us today. Scripture confirming Scripture, brought reassurance & calmed this anxious heart today. Only His Word can do that for me. Only His Word can do that for you.

I am so thankful for His promises this morning.
