Yesterday I read an interesting verse. It was so good that I had to look at it in several versions to see the various ways it would be worded. Each version was excellent. This morning I had to go back & reread the verse, only this time I read the verse in context. In so doing, this is what I realized:

There are benefits to maintaining a daily walk with God.

There. I said it. We need to have a daily walk. We need to spend time with God each day. It takes time. It takes effort. But we will gain by it. In this small portion of Scripture that I read this morning, I learned that there is much gained if we are consistent:

1) Strength & deliverance will be ours.

“Give us strength each morning!  Deliver us when distress comes. “  (Isaiah 33:2).

When we may think that we will not have enough strength or energy to get through the demands of the day, He infuses us with exactly what we need.

2) Stability.

”He will be the sure foundation for your times” . Or as another version puts it, “He is your constant source of stability….”Â   (Isaiah 33:6a).

When situations are changing, when it may seem like life is in chaos, He is the one that remains faithful, stable, bringing security.

3) A storehouse of salvation, wisdom & knowledge.

“….a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge…” (Isaiah 33:6b).

These are the benefits that I need in my life each & every day. I love that the end of verse 6 tells us..

..the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”

This relationship with God & all that I gain from Him is considered “a treasure”. It is something that I want to cherish, esteem & hold onto. He is the key to all other treasure in my life. Today may I walk in the assurance that..

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation & wisdom & knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”
