First it was that they found Osama. After 10 years.

This morning they found Whitey Bulger. Imagine after 16 years. Listening to the news reports of this account, reporters could hardly contain their satisfaction in that he was caught. One could hardly blame them for that.

As I was listening to the radio, the verse that came to me was, “…be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numbers 32:23 NIV). Each of us need to live circumspectly before our God & man. While we may be able to hide from man our whereabouts, our activities, our feelings, our motives, we are to remember that nothing is hidden from God. Scripture tells us:

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”  (Hebrews 4:13).

For most of us, it may take more than the 10 or 16 years to be uncovered. It may take a lifetime even. But eventually we will be found out. It will all be known by the One that already knows it all.

Interesting to me is that there is something we are instructed to hide…

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11)

It is in hiding His Word that I find freedom from hiding myself. In hiding His Word in my heart, my life is then brought out into the open.Â
