Plans. We all have them. The word has been defined as:
- a scheme or method of acting, doing, proceeding, making, etc., developed in advance, ie – battle plans
- a design or scheme of arrangement, ie – a seating plan
- a specific project or definite purpose, ie – plans for the future
How often we are busy making plans, have the best laid plans, plan ahead, or done something that was poorly planned? We all plan more often than we realize. There are certain hopes that go along with our plans. We so desire to see our plans come to fruition.
Morning quiet time is probably my favorite time of the day. Heck, this morning I even had plans for my quiet time!!!! I love having my coffee, reading, having windows open & hearing the birds. And hearing from God. OK, so He does not speak to me audibly BUT He does shout from the pages of my Bible a new truth. Sometimes it is a known truth with an eye opening thought. That was this morning. I was reading from Ephesians & read this familiar verse:
“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” (Ephesians 1:11).
How many times have I heard this verse & yet this morning it was as if I heard it for the very first time!!! God’s Word is always fresh, alive & living, speaking to our hearts just what we need. And this morning after reading this verse, in the stillness of the morning, this is what I realized:
God is planning His work & working His plan.
He has invited me to be a part of His plan but He is the One who holds those plans. He is the One who works out those plans. His plans have been well thought out, every detail figured in, nothing haphazard. He has looked at His plans from every angle to see where & how the best benefit would be gained. When all is said & done, those very plans will conform to the purposes He has willed AND be for the praise of His glory (verse 12).
This morning may I remember that He is the Author & Executor of the plans.
