Summer always presents the challenge of what to watch on TV. :))) Silly, I know, but I love when I find a good show during the summer. I found one just a couple of weeks ago.

Expedition Impossible.

The show is about 13 three-person teams that find themselves racing across vast deserts, snow-capped mountains & through raging rivers all taking place in the fabled, Kingdom of Morocco. The challenges are difficult & challenge how each of these persons will work together as a team. I am not entirely sure if the “impossible” part is the physicality of the challenges or the personalities, as both aspects enter in. But the show is GREAT.

Watching this program, I have come to admire various contestants as they come to find that they are able to do more then they ever thought themselves capable of doing. I have found the show to be inspiring as I watch, Erik, a blind contestant, persevere through each challenge, defying the odds & completing each challenge without complaining, without any self-pity.

This has me wondering on a few things…

  • could it be that God Himself has placed within each of us a dream to do something that is beyond ourselves?
  • could it be that our desire to achieve more & greater things is for purposes beyond our understanding?
  • could it really be that we are able to achieve the impossible in our lives?

Scripture has several things to tell us in answer to these questions:

“The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn’t be able to tackle.(Matthew 17:20 The Message).

“Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37 The Message).

“God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” (Ephesians 3:20 The Message).

There we have it – there is nothing that we cannot tackle when we let His Spirit work in & through us. He gently nudges us & works within us, developing those dreams within us to accomplish His purposes. And sure, they look impossible, unachievable to us because they are -  if we are trying to achieve them in our own strength. But then, as we dig down deep within ourselves & realize that it is His strength at work in us, we are able to achieve far more than we ever thought ourselves capable of achieving. It is to His glory that it works just this way. Lest we think that we are that one “impossible” case, the rest of that verse lets us know that we are not…

”Glory to God in the church! Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Glory down all the generations! Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!”  (The Message).

He accomplishes the impossible in us throughout all generations, throughout all millenia. And that means through us!

Ask Him today about that dream that has been ignited ever so slightly inside of yourself. Ask Him if it is not your, “Expedition Impossible” waiting to become possible!
