As I am sitting here in the early morning, it is pretty still out there. The sky is calm, the air is still. Yet I know there is a hurricane, Irene is her name, raging out there somewhere & she is large & moving this way.

Having done my typical food shopping yesterday, indications from others are that they are preparing for the worst. Making a few other stops, only confirmed that people were in “preparation mode”, whatever they think that may be.

The time to prepare for a storm is before it arrives.

No news flash there, I am sure, yet is it?

I thought of the many times that only upon the arrival of a crisis in my life did I pray, did I get into Scripture. How much wiser it would have been to have maintained my prayer time, been spending time reading my Bible as then, there would have been something to draw upon. Perhaps my response to the crisis would have been different.

This morning I am reminded of the words of Christ:

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  (Matthew 7:24-27 NLT).

How about you? What are you building on –

                                                 sand or rock?

Perhaps I should have written that –

                                                 sand or the Rock!!!!

May we be prepared & stand, always.

Best go get Sophia’s toys cleared off the patio & bring the table umbrella into the garage. I hear Irene is coming.
