Wearied.

Tired.

I will admit it. Lately I have been feeling just flat out tired. Remember the words sung in a commercial some years back…..

“I can put the wash on the line,

Feed the kids, get dressed,

pass out the kisses

and get to work by five to Nine.

I can bring home the bacon,

fry it up in a pan,

and never, never let you forget your a man….cause I’m a woman….”

Well, I will admit it – I just can’t do it all. It is tiring. Tonight I read a verse & my eyes opened up to something brand new. It had to have been there every other time I have read this portion but somehow – I missed it.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  (Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV).

Hidden in that very familiar passage, I discovered God does something amazing for me. The word “renew” in that passage means that there is a substitution or an exchange that takes place. He takes my weakness & exchanges it for His strength. This exchange takes place as I hope in the Lord. As long as I keep placing my hope in anything or anyone other than Him, I will remain in my weariness, in my weakness. I must place all my hope, all my trust in Him & Him alone.

That word “hope” in this passage actually means a binding together. When I bind myself to Him, I find myself strengthened.

I am going to bed & hopefully will get a good night’s rest. Tomorrow is a new day. I know I will face new challenges. I know there will be much to get done. But I am going to place my hope in Him & His Word tells me that in exchange, I will:

 Soar…

       Run…

             Not grow weary…

                                     Walk…

                                            Not be faint.
