What do buckets, CPR & faith all have in common?

It has been a most interesting week for me. In my opinion, God has shown up BIG all over the place. Not only in my family but also in the lives of our friends. God is at work. That is a most exciting experience.

How quick the enemy would be though to cause doubt in a new area. Seriously, does he never stop? He is relentless!

This morning God brought back to my mind an illustration that I read years ago. Thank you Lord that He brings things back to our remembrance! Here’s the illustration:

Imagine that you are walking with a glass of water in your hands. Someone bumps you & the water spills out. Worse yet. It spills on you. What comes out of your mouth? Now answer this question based on what came out of your mouth…

Who is to blame for what came out of your mouth?

Is it the fault of the person who bumped you? Or do you blame yourself?

Here is how I once heard it put & I LOVED IT(!!!) & I truly do not remember who said it or where I got it:

“What is down in the well, comes up in the bucket.”

Here is the challenge I am giving myself: I want to respond to circumstances basing them on God’s Word. I want to counter any thoughts of doubt or fear with a comeback from God’s Word. I want it to be an ongoing process in my life. Paul expressed it this way:

“It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.”  (2 Corinthians 4:13 NIV).

If I continually keep myself in God’s Word each day, I am breathing in life. As I speak out His Word, I am exhaling. With that next breath in, I take in His Word. Then speak out His Word, exhale. Living like this would be the equivalent to CPR. Much the same way, a rescuer breathes his breath into the victim to bring life, God’s Word would be administering CPR to my weak & faltering spirit. And by breathing in His Word & speaking out His Word, my spirit would become stronger in faith.

I guess what I am saying is this -  I want His Word to spill out of my bucket!
