A few days ago, I wrote a blog about being the first in your family line to walk with God. Here is the link to that post:

I share that link again only because I read a verse this morning that truly confirms what can happen when we make the choice to start that family line of faith.

“Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.” (Deuteronomy 7:9 NLT).

Where are you in that list of generations?

Are you the very first in your family to follow Christ?

Are you, like me, the third?

Are you the 10th in line?

No matter which spot you fill, as you love & obey Him, you are passing that blessing, that privilege to the next in your family.

Priscilla Shirer, in her book “Interrupted Life”, explains…

Choosing to yield in obedience to His wise direction and calling is how a lot of our unfinished spiritual business becomes constructed into a legacy of faith.

I wonder how many of us ever thought we would go into construction? Yet that is exactly what we are doing each day that we choose to trust Him. Each day that we choose to obey Him. We are constructing a legacy.

Today I realized that a day is coming when I will stand before God, in all of His glory & majesty. In the midst of all the tongues & tribes & nations, right along side of me, will be my thousand generations.

I will never live to see them all here. But one day, I will meet each & every one. And then, the only thought that will be going through my head is,

“It was so worth it! The price of trust & obedience was so worth it!!!”
