I read this quote last week:

David desired to dwell in the presence of God, to behold God, to meditate upon the beauty and splendor of God, to bask in the invigorating light and glory of everything that makes God an object of our affection and delight and adoration….The results of this passionate pursuit of God are staggering. Not only is beholding the beauty of God indescribably enjoyable, it is profoundly transforming. (from Pleasures Evermore by Sam Storms).

David learned to pursue God effectively. Effectively, meaning that his pursuit led him to worship God, to adore God, to behold God. A man that was an adulterer, a liar, a murderer became a man that Scripture calls, “a man after God’s own heart.” To be called that, something had to change.

We all desire & love change. Isn’t that what made “The Transformers” successful? The premise? Giant robots that transform into vehicles & animal-like figures & back again, when not involved in their heroic escapades. The change is what brought the excitement, the meaning, the purpose.

David became a worshiper. That is what transformed his life. I too, can be changed.

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever”‘increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  (2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV).

There’s the word – transformed. Transformed: “to change in condition, nature, or character” (dictionary.com). He is changing my very nature, my character, my personality. Somehow He makes me like Him, with an ever-increasing glory. That means that with each passing day, I should look a little more and a little more like Him.

How? How do I get there?

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”Â  (Romans 12:2 NIV).

There’s my word again – transformed. Transformation begins with the renewing of my mind. Replacing old patterns of thought with His pattern of thought.

Like David, if I will spend time with Him, beholding Him through His Word, I will be transformed. I know it is a lifetime process. I do not have to give up discouraged for the length of time that this process entails. God finishes everything that He starts & He will one day complete my transformation.

“Who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”Â  (Philippians 3:21  NIV).

I think, I can safely say, God was the originator of “The Transformers”.
