I sat down this morning at the computer. Did some reading. Then went to Facebook & posted this:

Headed to the Apple store this morning. Yesterday I was sitting enjoying a cup of tea. My phone slid out of my hands & directly into my teacup that I had resting in my lap. Seriously. Who has aim like that? I am praying for favor this morning……….

No sooner did I hit “Post” & my own mind began asking…

“Who has aim like that?”

We all do. Seriously. Every day, each of us has such precise aim that I think we would amaze ourselves.

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”               (Proverbs 12:18 NIV).

We can hit the mark every time we open our mouths & speak. The question then becomes, are we hitting the mark for good or harm?

See Scripture tells us that our words are either going to pierce or bring healing. That same verse, in other versions, reads:

  • “Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.” (NLT)
  • “There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health.” (NKJV)
  • “Rash language cuts and maims, but there is healing in the words of the wise.” (MSG)

Our words will either……

      cut or heal

pierce like a sword (ouch!) or promote healing

cut & maim or heal & be wise

Today may I be aware of the words I speak, how I speak them & the effect that they will have. Seems to me that my phone is not the only thing that has perfect aim.

Thank you Apple for teaching me something other than technology!!!
