Television has evolved into quite the medium. When I was a kid, there were only so many channels. TV came on at 6AM & went off at night with the flag. Then came the “snow” until morning when it came on again. Now we have more channels than we know what to do with, 24/7. There is no possible way to keep up with all the programs on every channel.

Today Tim found a new program.

The show explores the lives of otherwise normal people who are preparing for the end of the world as we know it. I kid you not. Trust me when I say, there is nothing normal about these people. These people stockpile food, water, medicine, necessities of sorts & ammunition to protect themselves. They build bunkers for themselves. The program is on the National Geographic Channel & is done documentary style.

We watched for a while fascinated by it all. To think that there are so many that would prepare for a disaster & not even know exactly what that disaster would be or entail. We were amazed at the supplies that were saved. The mentality behind it all seemed so anxiety and fear driven.

We know from 2 Timothy, that there will come a day of tremendous difficulty. He says:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self”‘control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of     God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.” (Chapter 3:1-5 NIV).

A little while after, I was writing an email & went to open my Bible. No one can ever tell me that God does not have a sense of humor. I casually flipped my Bible open & my eyes fell onto these verses:

“The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever.  In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.”Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  (Psalm 37:18-19 NIV).

May we remember that our God takes care of us always. In all things. In all ways.
