In reading the book, “Satisfy My Thirsty Soul” by Linda Dillow, I read this sentence:

Did you get what I just said? I have the privilege of fellowshipping with the Creator of the universe! (page 229).

Since reading & discussing this one sentence with a friend the other night, I have been spent time mulling this over. Probably in light of Holy Week & particularly, today, Good Friday.

We partake of this privilege, each & every time ……..

we come to church & worship

we bring our needs to Him in prayer

we open our Bible & read Scripture.

Do not miss that it is a privilege….”a right, immunity, or benefit enjoyed only by a person beyond the advantages of most” (from dictionary.com). “Fellowship” basically means “friendship” (from dictionary.com). Again, don’t miss that we get to enter into the benefit of friendship with the Creator.

As my friend & I discussed this statement & the act of worship, we realized that if we would only remember Who we come before as we come to church to worship, our worship would be affected. Either our hands would go up or our knees down but we probably would not just stand there unaffected.

Today is Good Friday. The day of our Lord’s death on the Cross. Being of Italian descent makes me a Gentile. This morning I am reminded of this:

“Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2: 11-13 NLT).

I was living in this world, a Gentile, without God & without hope. But He made a way for me to be brought near through the blood of Christ. That is a reason to rejoice & worship Him.

The author, Linda Dillow, goes on to write:

He – the Almighty, Majestic One – invites me to share a meal with Him! “Look! I stand at the door & knock. If you hear my voice & open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20 NLT).

Privilege.

        Fellowship.

              Friends.

                     Worship.

May we remember all that He has done for us. May we remember to worship Him.
