I love that the Scriptures are alive & living & always speak to us. No matter how familiar a passage we may read, something new is always revealed. For instance….

In Psalm 1, we find a description of what God does in those who delight in Him.

They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit in each season. Their leaves never whither, & they prosper in all they do. (verse 3 NLT).

The words, “each season”, jumped off the page. How have I missed those words? No matter what season we are in, we can bear fruit. Each season bears its own fruit.

Summer….

A time of heat, humidity. Dryness. In this season…..

They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or   worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green & they never stop producing fruit. (Jeremiah 17:8 NLT).

Fall……..

The air gets crisp. The leaves change color, going from plush         greenness to vibrant hues of orange, red & yellow before they fall to the ground. In this season, change is in the air…..

So all of us who have had the veil removed can see & reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more & more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.             (2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT).

Winter……

The air gets cold. Snow falls. Everything looks white & clean & fresh. There is a quiet beauty that causes us to marvel. Everything looks new.

“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18 NLT)

Spring…..

A time of hope. Renewal. We have made it through the winter & our eyes are on the ground anticipating what will poke through the soil.

But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18, 19 NLT).

Yes, there is a work that God looks to do in our lives – no matter the season. Perhaps the question really becomes…..What season is your life in? Be assured that He is at work & that your life can bear fruit right where you are.
