Read these two thoughts last week & jotted them down. I neglected to write down who wrote them or where I got them. I apologize. They are not original to me but they are too good not to share:

The God who never changes is always doing something new.

AND……

Circumstances may change but the truth of God’s Word will never change.

This  morning I found myself, once again, reflecting on these two statements. Hebrews 13:8 came to me, which states:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday & today & forever.” (NIV).

I so appreciate this verse. In a world that is constantly & ever     changing, I can rest assured, that my Savior does not change. His love for me is not fickle. His forgiveness, His mercy, & His grace are poured into my life each day. This verse encompasses all of time:

  • yesterday…meaning from the beginning of time. Jesus was present with God at the creation. “And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.” (Hebrews 1:2 NLT).
  • today….meaning that Jesus currently is seated at the right hand of the Father. Hebrews 1:13 tells us that God said to the Son…”Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.” (NLT).
  • forever…meaning everlasting, for all time. “Your throne, O God, endures forever & ever.” (Hebrews 1:8 NLT).

This morning, I find myself appreciating that Jesus is the constant in my life. I am thankful for the Word of God which is alive & living &     active. And because Jesus is the Logos, the Word (John 1:14), both     Jesus & His Word will remain unchanged.
