SURVIVOR: CARAMOAN - FANS VS. FAVORITES

Survivor started again this week. I love the show & have been watching it now for years. This season, Survivor: Caramoaon, is pitting the fans against the favorites of past seasons. Here is what I found very interesting in the season premiere….

None of the returning favorites thinks that any of them has changed or will play the game differently than in the past. They speak of one another, & treat one another, leaving no room for change. I watched in wonderment. Do they not think people can change their ways? Or their game plan? Why do they think that everyone & everything remains status quo?

It then hit me……

I am so glad that I have not remained the same that I was years ago. I have, indeed, changed in many ways. I am grateful for the grace & mercy of God which saved me from myself. I can rest, knowing there is also hope for those parts of me which are yet in need of change. We have this hope because He transforms our minds, giving us a new way of thinking (Romans 12:2) which changes our behaviors.

As the season opener continued, I found myself thinking….

“This will be the demise of the “favorites”. If they continue playing the game as if the past did not occur, as if no one can change or play the game differently, they will implode.”

And so it is with us…..

  • We learn from our past mistakes.
  • We allow God to transform our lives becoming different people than we were before.
  • We live life from a new vantage point – God’s.

It is then that life works.

So, then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NET)
