I recently completed reading, Freeing Tangled Hearts by Dolores Kimball. This is a must read for any woman who struggles with her emotions or wounds of the past & desiring to walk in freedom. The author confronts head on many of the heart issues that women struggle & that affect our faith. She reminds us OFTEN that the answer lies in not letting those emotions rule our hearts & minds but focusing on our God, Who alone can change our hearts & the manner in which we process our emotions. Some of the topics that she discusses are:
- Are we truly in the faith?
- Do we recognize that the Christian life is a battle? And a daily battle at that.
- Are we allowing our feelings to dictate the manner in which we approach life?
- Do we know God & His Word?
The author writes powerfully yet gently, always pointing the reader to Scripture. She reminds us often that only as we take our eyes off ourselves & gaze on our Savior will we find freedom for our tangled hearts. It is then that we will find all that He came to offer. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it to the full.” (John 10:10 NIV).
She closes her book stating this:
..it’s only when we fill our minds with him that our hearts are untangled and we lose that which is plaguing our souls. Charles Spurgeon said it best: “Do you want to lose your sorrows? Do you want to drown your cares? Then plunge yourself into the Godhead’s deepest sea and be lost in its immensity.”
The reader will find the author’s approach to be easy to read & grasp. It will seem like Dolores is sitting across from you having a conversation. This is a book that I will read & recommend to other women often.
**Cross Focused Reviews provided me this book in exchange for my honest opinion. And I am so glad that they did 🙂
