Recently I submitted an entry for a giveaway of a case of the book 20,000 Days and Counting: The Crash Course for Mastering Your Life Right Now. Although I did not win the case, I did win two signed copies of the book. It was a treat to read! The book is inspirational to say the least. In his mid fifties, the author came to realize that he already had lived 20,000 days. With that realization, the sober truth hit him that life passes quickly. He checked himself into a hotel for forty eight hours to reflect on his life & what he truly desired to do for the remainder. He desired to leave a lasting legacy when his days were over.
The book is written in three sections:
- The 20,000-Day Mind-Set
- Beating The Clock
- Today Is Day One
The book is practical, inspirational & challenges you to live every day with purpose. He provokes you to thought with quotes & stories that make the book an easy read & hard to put down. Each quote includes not only the author but the number of days the author lived which truly drives the point home that each day is precious. As you close the book, you find yourself infused with a fresh shot of enthusiasm for life. He lays out a plan by which you can learn to live each day with maximum intensity, find purpose in each day, & overcome fears that would seek to limit you in your abilities.
My favorite quote:
No reserves. No retreats. No regrets.
Christian Missionary. He lived exactly 9, 290 days.
Although I was given this book for free, I was not required to do a review. It was my joy to give one!
And I have now lived 20,508 days 🙂 May my remaining ones count big!!!
