5-minute-friday-1View.

I thought to myself, “Well, it seems clear to me. She is right.”

A little while later, I thought, “No. He seems right.”

Then I had to think about it a little longer & begin to sort through all that was being said & presented.

Yes, I was sitting in jury duty. I had listened to the opening arguments presented by the plaintiff’s attorney. She presented an eloquent & emotional tale designed to move us all.ƂĀ  The plaintiff seemed like a nice woman – neatly dressed, hard-working woman, her family all sitting in around her in the courtroom. She must be a truthful woman. They all love her.

Then the defense attorney presented his case. And he spoke much simpler. No emotional tugs during his opening comments. Just plain & simple facts that shed light that the incident in question happened quite differently.

View.

I thought of the proverbial saying, “There are two sides to every story.”

How we view a situation is dependent upon who is telling the story. May we be ever so mindful not to jump to conclusions. May we remember the view may be clearer from the other side. Sometimes relationships can be sticky & messy. We need the view from the other side to be relationally wise.

“The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.” (Proverbs 18:17)

May we have a clear & unobstructed view.
