Dear Weary Mom –

It is amazing how such a little life can bring such fatigue. It is a fatigue beyond any other. Truly. There are days that we just long for them to go down for a nap – easily – without crying, without rocking till our arms feel like they will drop off. I thought of you yesterday afternoon while I rocked my granddaughter till the my arms had that familiar tingling of pins & needles 🙂

Then there are those days that we long for them to nap – for more than 30 minutes. We just want to be able to….

eat a lunch that consists of more than two bites,

throw a load of laundry in so we feel productive,

read (something other than baby jar labels to try & figure out what is making them fussy),

close our eyes & sleep (what’s that?),

watch that episode of Revolution On Demand before it is no longer available,

or bask in the silence.

Weary Mom, I have been this route before when raising my own two children. I never thought the days would pass, especially the days of colic. But they do. And now that I am in the midst of being a “Mimi” and taking care of our little ones again, I can take it more in stride. Not totally but at least a bit more easily & calmly.

Want to know why?

It is because on those days, I remind myself of this truth:

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,

for his compassions (His mercies) never fail.

They are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion.

(Lamentations 3:23-24a NIV84)

I wake up & remind myself that His mercy got me through yesterday. He was faithful. He supplied to my weary body EXACTLY what I needed to meet the day. And the wonderful thing about His mercy is this…

It will be there today as well.

With Love From,

This Weary Mimi to you, Weary Mom
