Dear Weary Mom –

It really was not supposed to end up like this. None of it. You are a true blue woman. A till death due us part sort of woman. So to say this is the hardest thing that you have waded through is an understatement.

Being a single mom was never supposed to be in the picture.

Yet here you are – parenting alone.

You take this responsibility most seriously. You so desire for your children to grow up healthy – physically, emotionally & most of all, spiritually. Your desire for their health is the very thing which prompted your decisions. Decisions which did not come easy. The struggle has been great. At times, overwhelming.

Although some time has passed, it has not become easier.

Weary Mom, I admire you for many reasons:

  • for your many sacrifices
  • for your strength
  • for stabilizing your home in the face of abuse
  • for weighing every choice, every decision in light of pleasing our God
  • for teaching your children to respect & honor their dad, whether deserving or not
  • for your loyalty towards your friends
  • for your reliance on God

I have prayed much for you, my friend. There have been so many times in which I have wished I had a magic wand or a genie in a bottle! Believe me I would use them to change your situation. This morning I was reminded that what I do have , in fact & truth, is far greater! And that is what I offer you. Hear God saying to you today:

Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end”” Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.

(Isaiah 43:2-4, MSG)

May you know, with assurance, that you will not drown. You are not over your head. You are not at a dead end.

May you know, with confidence, that you are redeemed. You are not alone. Our God will be with you. He is your God. Your personal God. Your Savior. He would trade everything just for you.

Jesus loves you, Weary Mom.

And so do I!
