You see it from the corner of your eyes….

the dishes in the sink,

the laundry waiting to be done,

another dust bunny floating across the wood floors,

baths to yet be given.

You realize that you are tired & he has a late night meeting. You will be going it solo & it is only 4PM. And you wonder, “How will I ever get to bedtime?”

Let me assure you that you will get there. Eight o’clock will come & they will be tucked in. Till then, you take it – one minute at a time.

You ask me how I know?

Flash back to some years ago. Wednesday nights was his late night. The dealership was open until 9PM & he would normally get home around ten. I had two children of my own. Bedtime was 8PM. When I said the last bedtime prayer, slightly closed that last bedroom door, said the last goodnight, & delivered that last drink of water, I sighed. I would retreat to the small three season porch, that was our all season family room. There I would have my cup of coffee & enjoy the silence. While other young moms at that time were watching, the popular & talked about, Beverly Hills 90210 & Melrose Place, I chose the silence.

It was in the silence, reading, that I would be able to regroup. It was there that I found strength, solace, & peace. Be sure to carve out some time for the One that will supply you with all you need to mother yet another day. Even a few minutes will make all the world of difference both for you & in you.

My prayer for you today is this:

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

(2 Thessalonians 2:15 NIV84)

The dishes & laundry can wait. The dust bunnies, well, I still have some floating around šŸ™‚ And it doesn’t seem to bother me as much anymore.

Concentrate on the important – Him.
