Broken…

We have been on vacation this week & have been at, what I truly think is my favorite place, Lake Winnepausaukee. House right on the water. Beautiful early morning time. Me, my coffee, My Bible, my books & God. here, at this lake, is where I forget that this world is a broken place. The beauty of the water, the mountains, the sunrises & sunsets effectively erase all that has marred the world……..

the hearts that are shattered & splintered,

the stomachs that have gone unfed,

the lack of clean drinking water,

the abuses,

the divorces,

the addictions,

the bankruptcies,

struggling children.

None can be seen here. And then the ding is heard. The message comes on my phone & the brokenness rushes in as I read of the brokenness of my friend that leaves me in shock. And it is then that I remember…

“The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you, do this in remembrance of me.”

My Jesus fully understands brokenness. It was His body that was broken so that I would not have to remain broken. It is only as I remember the Cross can brokenness even begin to make any sense at all. It is only as I view the Cross can I catch a glimpse of wholeness.
