{Today I am linked with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Five Minute Friday…. here is how it works. One prompt. Five minutes. Write unedited. Link up with others. Sheer joy & fun too!}
We all long to belong. We want to be a part of something….
- a family
- a small group
- a club
- a church
- a choir
- a team
- a company
It is in that moment that we belong that we feel a sense of acceptance, of security. A renewed confidence fills us which tells us we are right where we need to be.
But sometimes years can pass where we do not feel that we belong. We feel on the fringes of everything. Always the outsider looking in kind of thing. And still we are OK with that because deep inside of us, we know that we do belong to something, perhaps Someone.
Then there are those days that God pulls back the curtain ever so slightly. We get this peek in & discover that we truly do belong. We are on a journey with Him that does matter. The things we do in life do have significance. We discover that we are all in this journey together. That our stories are a small part of the Greater Story – His Story.
And we each belong.
“And you also are among those who are called to belong in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 1:6 NIV)
In Him, we each belong.

Dear Joanne
Yes, we were created to belong and our hearts will never be at rest, until we come to Jesus and we belong to Him!

Yes, Mia – Our rest is found in Him! How are you feeling today?
Stil battling, but not as bad as earlier today, thanks!
Well said!! We must remember that He loves us and we always belong to Him!!
May we remember this truth every day!
Perfectly put together – there is one place that belonging is so amazing, and it is in Him. Thank you for sharing your five minutes today! Loved it.
Marissa
I am so glad that He pulled me into His circle – He created me to belong there:)
So glad that we do belong to Him. Thanks for the reminder!
When we have a sense of belonging and are fulfilled in Christ, there is no better place to be. I really loved your post today. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I am glad that you shared here too.
so very true.
Thanks, Jo for your blog today. It means lots to me.
I want to belong and know fellowship, too. God knew that about me before I was born. After all He created me and knew exactly what I would need. His love and compassion in sacrificing Himself on the cross has given me that redemption and acceptance I had always longed for. I don’t need to run to this or that for validation because He cares and accepts me and loves me. He has also given me precious fellowship in the Body of Christ and that is His love in others as we relate to one another.
Blessings,
Marilyn Saxon
