bedtime-prayers-that-end-with-a-hugAs parents and grandparents we pray for the children in our families and lives. Yet we also want to teach them about prayer. We want to help them develop a lifelong habit of prayer. I have had the joy of reading Bedtime Prayers That End with a Hug! by Stephen Elkins. This book will help your children to learn about prayer. It will also help them to learn they can bring anything that concerns them to God.

There are 52 prayers included in this book including the topics of:

  • thanks
  • loving others
  • making good choices
  • telling the truth
  • friendships
  • generosity
  • worry
  • being afraid of the dark

and many more.

Each devotional is kept short so as to keep the attention of your toddler. The illustrations, by Ruth Zeglin, are colorful and delightful, and sure to keep every child interested. Each reading includes a Scripture, a thought, a prayer. And then it includes a hug at the end, to affirm your love for your child.

This book is a wonderful way to to develop a pattern of prayer at the end of each day with a child. It is a sure way to help bedtime routines become a soothing way to end the day – with a hug!
