{{It is Friday. Today I link with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. Here is how it works…. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. Everyone writes on the same word. Equals a great time.}}

The word today is …. Visit.

Reading the word immediately took me back years. We would visit every Tuesday. Most times there were three of us, some weeks four. We had our children and we would meet at her house for dinner. Dinner….we were young, in our 20’s and truly did not have much. The menu often consisted of whatever each of us had in our refrigerator and pantries. We’d each bring something and then cook it together. We fed our kids first and while they played, the moms enjoyed the feast.

The feast being the visit and conversation, not the food.

We would have coffee or tea while sitting in the living room with our Bibles opened on our laps. We would continue to share about our lives, our thoughts, the Scriptures that were meaningful to us in the past week, our problems. We would pray together before parting ways. And we did this for several years, pretty regularly. Being young, we were convinced these visits would not only solve our problems but probably the world’s as well.

Almost 29 years have passed since those visits. And those times together are just as meaningful now as they were then. The memories forever etched in my mind. They were precious visits as we shared and cried and prayed each week. Some problems were solved, truly not by us, but by a God Who responded to the prayers of those few women coming together.

Visits – sacred moments in time.

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:19-20, NLT)
