“What really matters to you?”

The question loomed before me in an email. For a few days now, I have opened the email, read just the question, and closed the email. It was not an email that required a response.

Other than the response of my heart.

Really, what does matter to me?

No matter what happens in life. No matter whether circumstances are hard or easy. Happy or sad. Challenging. Motivating. Encouraging.

Whether facing a time of success of failure. Health or illness.

There is only one thing that matters to me. And my prayer is for my children to know it. Not just with their heads but with their hearts. With all their being. I pray that it is written with indelible ink. A spiritual tattoo of sorts.

“Then I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be glad because he rescues me. With every bone in my body I will praise him: “Lord, who can compare with you?” (Psalm 35: 9-10, NLT)

I want my children to know God is the most important relationship in my life. My desire is that He be the most important relationship in their lives. That they know there in none that compares to Him.

May I rejoice in Him.

May I praise Him with every bone in my body.

Today my prayer is for Him to be the uncontested love of my life so they may see Him in me. May they then desire Him above all others in life. I am discovering the answer to that question …..

He is all that truly matters in this life.
