There are those times in which life just doesn’t turn out the way we anticipated. Disappointment – we have all faced it in life. Perhaps in different circumstances. Perhaps more than once.

It can come wrapped in many ways, throughout out livesƂĀ  ….

  • not making a team
  • just missing honor roll
  • a college rejection letter
  • a missed opportunity
  • a broken relationship
  • a pink slip
  • a diagnosis

What does one do at those times when it seems like we have hit a brick wall, the end has come, the bottom has fallen out?

I remember a saying, which was quite popular when I was kid … “When life hands you lemons, make a lemonade.” For some reason, I always cringed when I heard it. I actually hated the saying, if I may be completely honest. It seemed like everyone was coining it and using it and selling it.

So what does one do?

Today I am remembering that our God has no end. No end to His ability or His capability. There is nothing which He is unable to do.

He creates out of nothing. Provides much from little.

The desert you may find yourself in today, may just be more than what is meeting the eye. It may be more than void and empty. Listen:

  • “Even the wilderness and the desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God.” (Isaiah 35:1-2, NLT)
  • After stating past deeds which He has done, God says, “But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a way through the wilderness. I will create rivers in dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19, NLT)
  • In the psalms, the author writes that God can change rivers into desert and fruitful land into a wasteland due to the wrong of those living there. We are also told this …. “But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water. He brings the hungry to settle there and to build their cities. They sow their fields, plant their vineyards, and harvest bumper crops. How he blesses them!” (Psalm 107: 33-38, NLT)

So what does one do?

Trust the God Who is able … to make deserts bloom, create rivers in the middle of a wasteland, make a way when there is no way. As a matter of fact, there is no limit to His possibilities.

It’s not the end.

It’s a new beginning.
