We had some snow this week. OK, technically it was a lot of snow. The forecasters used the “B” word in describing it -  – – “Blizzard”.

While most were busy buying up all the shovels in Home Depot and Lowe’s, stocking up on ridiculous amounts of icy melt, toilet paper, milk and batteries, we sat pretty comfortable at our house prepared for the arrival of Juno.

Comfortable but not comfortable with the situation.

We had a needed appointment in Boston for Wednesday morning. So we sat and conversed about it for days. Conversed actually means we worried and explored every “what if” scenario which could possibly exist. Trust me on this one.

With each “what if” scenario we visited, our anxiety level increased exponentially for some of us. And yes, notice I am leaving persons unidentified so as not to incriminate {{myself}}.

We went to bed with a driving ban still in place and schools closed, yet unsure what it would mean for our appointment. We woke up to a new day – driving ban lifted, non-essential employees still to be off the road and schools yet closed.

So off we went to our appointment, leaving two hours ahead of time as we were sure the extra travel time would be needed.

How shall I explain the ride in except to say …

“Best ride in ever!”

There was zero traffic as most people still needed to be home. Not all lanes were open on the highway but those which were had been plowed to the pavement and dry. Mid ride all we could do was laugh. Seriously.

We laughed at our own foolishness at the amount of time wasted on discussion of an issue which never came to pass. So much energy expended on what was never to be.

And in the midst of our laughter, we were gently reminded to leave worry behind …

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” (Matthew 6:34, MSG)
