I think you are pretty amazing. In fact when I look at those around me – family, friends, other bloggers, those sitting in the church pews near me, those I meet each day – it is easy for me to see why you all are well liked and have been positioned in life.
It is myself I have issues with at times. And I bet, you might even say the same thing regarding yourself.
We can be pretty hard on ourselves. We can examine and nitpick with the best of them. It is often said we are our own worst critic and it’s probably true. Now trust me when I say, I am not wanting us to go thinking we are better than and are all that in life either. So where do we find the balance in what we think about ourselves?
In reading a most familiar passage today, I find this reminder:
- He formed us Himself. The very Maker of everything our eyes can see, our ears can hear and our noses can breathe in, fashioned every part of us – both inside and out. “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13, NLT) Our moms were only the incubator for His creation.
- He has made us wonderfully and complexly. God created each of us, with our emotions and personalities. He knit us together like a skilled craftsman weaving together a beautiful tapestry. “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.” (verse 14, NLT). Our God does the very best workmanship.
- He knows every one of our days. Not a single moment of our lives goes undetected by His every watchful eyes. The length of our lives are all planned and determined. “Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (verse 16, NLT).
Amazing to think that the Creator of all things, would choose to dwell within these finite and flawed lives such as each of us. Yet we are precious to our God, every one of us. As a matter of fact, He’s thinking about each of us all the time. “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!” (Psalm 139:17, NLT).
May we come to realize – we are amazing.
Each one of us!
Today I am joining with …. Tell His Story and Three Word Wednesday and Wedded Wednesday and Works for Me and Coffee & Conversation and Women With Intention .
Great reminder – one I think we need to hear frequently. Don’t compare ourselves to anyone else for we are made uniquely and wonderfully made – just as we are.
Kathryn, we just need to remember to celebrate who we are in all our uniqueness. He made us & He loves us as we are.
What a great reminder! What if we really embraced who God made us to be without worrying about trying to be who God made someone else to be? Visiting today from #TellHisStory. God bless!
Laura, “what if” questions are my very favorite as they so prompt me to think deeply. I especially love yours – What if we really embraced who God made us to be, no worrying, no comparing? I wonder what we each would be unleashed to do for His glory! So glad you stopped & shared!
I think you are pretty amazing too 🙂 Saw your post on Wedded Wednesdays today and couldn’t resist seeing what Winnie and Tigger had to say! Comparison is a trap of the enemy, never leads to anything good. Thanks for sharing!! ♥
Nanette, I so agree, it never leads to anything good. May we find freedom in being our amazing selves 🙂
It is great how God used the same Scripture in your devotional as He did in mine. So precious that He thinks we are amazing. And I agree with Nannette~you are amazing, Joanne!
Thanks, Janis. I so love the “what if” question Laura Rath shared above….Can we even imagine what would happen if we each would embrace who God made us to be? Grateful you stopped here!
Joanne, what a wonderful reminder that God has a plan for each one of us, and it doesn’t always look the same from one person to the next. I’m so glad you linked up at #ThreeWordWednesday.
Kristin, so glad you pointed out that His plan looks different from person to person. How freeing is that? Seriously. Grateful He works so personally & uniquely in each of us. For me, it truly has been in & through the things which take place in my day & what I think about it all. Enjoy your Friday!
Again Joanne you ministered right to my heart and I know to many many others.
Psalm 139 means so much to me. God knows…. all our days! That is what I held on to when Jason was at the end of his life. I am focusing on just “being” and knowing that is enough that God loves me right where I am. I have been working on committing Psalm 139 to memory for over a year… so cool to meditate on it’s awesome truths.
Mare, you are so motivated to memorize Scripture. Always has amazed me. Grateful God knew what would bring you comfort both then, in the days at end of Jason’s life, and now. He loves you, Mare. And so do I!
You are spot on! We are each made just as God intended us to be. Thank you for linking up at Women With Intention Wednesdays! I hope to see you again this week!
