I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is … Good.
It’s Good Friday.
And yet, in the eyes of many, there is nothing which was “good” about it.
It is hard to think on all which Jesus suffered on this day. Scripture graphically tells us of all He endured – the beatings, the shame, the abandonment. It was a dark day for those who loved Him and had spent time with Him.
How do we reconcile these thoughts?
“You are good and do only good.” (Psalm 119: 68, NLT)
All that our God does yields good. I remember this truth. And as I remember and focus on the good which He does, my heart is filled with gratitude.
I am grateful for the sacrifice our Lord made for me. It truly was a dark and difficult obedience for Him, one He would have desired to avoid if at all possible. But He kept His eyes on His Father and He obeyed – for me to experience His love, His forgiveness, His grace and mercy.
It is in the remembering that my heart is filled with greater gratitude. It is the remembering that perhaps keeps me from straying. I am grateful the story does not end with the Crucifixion. I am grateful it doesn’t end with His resurrection. I am grateful it doesn’t end with His ascension. I am grateful the story has not yet ended for if it had, I would not have been included. The story is yet ongoing, open to all who will hear and accept Him as their Lord. I am glad the story will continue for all eternity.Â
Good Friday. A day which causes me to pause and to remember. And in the remembering, my heart is filled more deeply with a love and gratitude for His sacrifice for me. His sacrifice, which He would have made even if I were the only one. Amazing grace. Amazing love.
And it is …..
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Dance With Jesus .
Well hey neighbor! I imagine we all have the same thought on our minds today. Thanks be to God!
Michelle, perhaps the word prompt was such to remind us of all the good God deposits into our lives because of all Christ accomplished on Good Friday for each one of us. May you have a blessed Easter!
You too Joanne!
I am also SO glad I am included in His story. The story we will get to share with Him for all eternity! Praise the Lord for His sacrifice and love. 🙂 Your FMF friend, Tasha
Tasha, may you have a blessed Easter as you praise Him for all He has done!

And it hasn’t ended so I AM included. See, even His Name is in that statement! WHEEE! Thank you God, the Great I AM.
Joanne, this is beautifully written. Thank you for sharing. Happy Easter!
Susan, it has been wonderful to join you each week. May God bless your book & use it to bring His comfort to many!
