11015084_865590096835214_4335680576188250137_nIn this last week of studying in the Psalms, we focused on this thought … “He satisfies completely. Therefore, I will choose to be filled by Him.” There is a lasting satisfaction and fulfillment which comes only from spending time with Him.

  • Psalm 63. When we are dry, longing for Him – He gives us what exactly we need – which is usually more of Him, of His Word. “O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1, NLT) We need to ask ourselves >> Do I crave Him? Am I letting Him satisfy me?
  • Psalm 36. “For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.” (Psalm 36:9, NLT) May we remember this when we can’t see clearly in a situation. May we ask Him to come and shed light for us. Just because we are unable to see through a situation does not mean that He is unable to see through it. Darkness is as light to Him and He can help us to see as well.
  • Psalm 84. I think in today’s day and age, we forget how important the Temple was to the people. For them it was a pilgrimage, a journey, and they took the journey.ƂĀ There is a strength which comes from being with God’s people. The pilgrimage they took to the Temple, was often taken in large groups. We need community with other believers. May we not think we can do it on our own. “What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord; who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.” (Psalm 84:5, NLT)
  • Psalm 91. “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” (Psalm 91:4, NLT) His promises are our protection. This stresses the importance of knowing what He has promised us. It brought to mind Philippians 4:6-9. There we are encouraged to “tell God what you need and to thank Him for all He has done.” His peace guards our hearts and minds. We are to fix our thoughts on that which is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.
  • Psalm 65. He wants us to come to Him (verse 2). He faithfully answers our prayers (verse 5). He inspires shouts of joy (verse 8). “You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11, NLT) Even that hard path you’ve been on, yes (!!!), it will overflow.ƂĀ  I want some overflow of joy, hope, and victory. How about you? What are you desiring to overflow in your life?

“God will answer all our question in one way and one way only. Namely, by showing us more of His Son.” (Watchman Nee)
