“One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” (Psalm 27:4-5, NIV)
Father, You are worthy of my time and attention, of the greatest affections of my heart. You are generously kind in rewarding those who diligently seek You with greater glimpses of the beauty of Your heart.
Forgive me for my impatience, my Lord, when approaching Your throne of grace. Like Joshua at the Tent of Meeting, I want to be one who loves to linger in Your presence, leaving slowly and hesitantly. Father, this one thing I ask for and seek: to dwell in Your house all my days, beholding Your beauty and meditating upon Your Word. Lingering … lingering …
I want to go further still than enjoying the glorious place where You dwell. I love to enjoy the pleasures of Your presence, but I want also to seek after Your heart. I know there’s a high price that must be paid to enter the most intimate place, but time and effort I’m determined to give to find and know Your heart. I will linger, longer still ….

ahhh, my verse of the year and one I have been praying daily. Read the other day John O’donahue’s definition of beauty: Beauty is that place where we feel most alive.” added a new dimension to this verse for me.
Jean, I love the quote you shared – and may we feel most alive when we are with Him. Have a blessed week!
I live Dutch Sheet’s teaching/writing! I’ve not read the book you mention here, yet, though.
Elizabeth, I so enjoyed this one. I keep going back to it to re-read more slowly & digest each devotional.
What an interesting image to go with this Scripture and thought. I just came from another blog that featured a prayer that the beauty of Jesus would be seen in me. I believe that happens when I spend my time seeking the Lord and gazing on his beauty myself. 🙂
I agree, Kym. It happens slowly as we spend time with Him, letting Him change us to be more like Him. May we seek His heart in all we do for all our days.
This image caught my eye, and this verse? And the post title? I’m all over that. And the verse? It’s my life verse. I was supposed to pop in over here. Thank you, friend!
Sandra, I am grateful the post spoke to you. Your writing has blessed me time & time again. Thank you so much for stopping here & blessing me!
