I woke up yesterday knowing I needed help to get my thoughts aligned and focused once again with God’s truth. Emotions were getting the best of me and the only way to reign them in is through filling my head with new thoughts.

I turned to an online group to catch up with a few videos – weekly devotionals – which I had missed. I had not had the time to view them when they were shared. And the new thoughts began to flood in:

  • “We don’t always immediately apprehend the purposes of our sufferings.”
  • “An unclean spirit can be anything that thwarts us from loving God or receiving God’s love into our lives.”
  • “I am the Provision for your need.”

Three different weekly videos delivered by three different women. Yet each bringing a truth for me to saturate my mind – God’s truth.

Paul prayed for the Philippians to be filled with knowledge and discernment, with truth, so they would be able to know what really matters in life. They would be able to address life with God’s truth and thus live in such a way to bring glory and honor and praise to God.

Opening my devotional, “Streams in the Desert” (for May 27th) my eyes take in these words … “Do you find yourself at this very moment surrounded with needs, and nearly overwhelmed with difficulties, trials, and emergencies?”

Umm, is nothing hidden from Him? I continue reading …

The very trials that threatened to overcome you with discouragement and disaster will become God’s opportunity to reveal His grace and glory in your life, in ways you have never known before.

“My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

What a source – “God”! What a supply – “His glorious riches”! What a channel – “Christ Jesus”! It is your heavenly privilege to trust “all your needs: to “his glorious riches” and to forget “your needs’ in the presence of “his riches”. He has thrown open to you His exhaustive treasury.

I think back to one of the devotional videos I had watched earlier … God not only wants to provide, He has made a way for abundant provision. My problem was I was trying to envision His provision through my feeble thoughts and what was needed was His eternal truths.

I turned to my desk calendar ….

What were the lessons learned yesterday?

  1. God weaves His people together for purposes beyond our understanding. He can use online community to do a deep work in our lives.
  2. We MUST fill our minds with His truth. Leave no space unoccupied.
  3. He knows our needs and will supply them as we humble ourselves before Him.
  4. Sometimes our “need” is His peace, for which He gives an abundant supply!

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”ร‚ย  (Philippians 4:7, NLT)

What are you in need of today?

Come to Him.

He truly does have an abundance and is happy to supply.
