This is one of those verses we can so spout with the best of them, or at least I can. And then there are those times where, rather than saying it verbatim, I take the time to look at it, from a different angle ever so slowly.
This past week, my eyes were opened to this simple fact – Paul wrote in the present tense. How have I so missed this?
He didn’t say it worked or perhaps it will one day work. It is in the present tense, so it is a continuing and ongoing action by our God.
What does that mean for us?
It means whatever is occurring in each of our lives – today, at this moment – our God is orchestrating it all. He is blending these occurrences into the fabric of our lives to accomplish His will IN our lives.
ƂĀ George Mueller puts it … “In a thousand trials, it is not just 500 of them that work “for the good” of the believer, but 999 + 1.”
May we each hold onto this promise –
today, presently –
He is working all things out for our good.
