Five-Minute-Friday-4-300x300

Iā€™m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.

Today the word prompt is ā€¦ Favorite.

As soon as I saw the word prompt, I could hear her words in my head, “When you’re the only one here, you are my favorite.”

My Gram. An Italian immigrant, who came to the U.S. at the age of sixteen. Having never met anyone here in person, she came to stay with a family of a friend of her parents. She could not read nor write and was dependent on any of us who would help her.

She was a godly woman, who had a storehouse of Scripture memorized, kind, gentle and very wise. There were seven of us grandchildren and we all wanted to be her “favorite”. We often asked her who was her favorite, and she always responded, “When you’re the only one here, you are my favorite.”

Favorite, as defined by the NLT Study Bible dictionary, is “a person specially loved, trusted, or provided with favors.”

This morning I am reminded that my God also plays no favorites. Each one of us gets to be a favorite of His …

  • “…. for God has no favorites.” (Galatians 2:6)
  • “… you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites.” (Ephesians 6:9)
  • “For God has no favorites.” (Colossians 3:25)

Each one of these statements, written by Paul, who knew to the depths of his being that he was loved by God. He knew he was a man specially loved, trusted, and provided with favor by His God.

When I am alone with God, I am His favorite.

And so are you!

Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Friday and Grace & Truth .
