Five-Minute-Friday-4-300x300

Most Fridays, I join Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.

Today the word prompt is ā€¦ Doubt

Doubt.

We all experience the feeling now and then during the course of our days …

~ we doubt the sun is going to come out

~ we doubt we’ll get the much needed rain

~ we doubt we’ll get our dream job

~ we doubt our talents

Jeepers, yesterday I had doubts Jocelyn would nap šŸ™‚

But doubt is that feeling that gnaws away at us. It can almost paralyze us – if we let it.

Doubt … “uncertainty of belief or opinion; lack of confidence; to distrust” (from the NLT dictionary/concordance).

This morning those definitions made me stop and think for a bit. OK, a long bit as I read them last night before heading to bed, without writing this post.

The question which is gnawing at me is this -> In those times of doubt, who am I doubting – myself or God?

And that, my friends, is a loaded question.

We come to Him in prayer, laying our concerns, our needs, and our requests before His throne. Doubt can set it as I wonder if God will answer my prayer. James tells us this:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt. because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:5-6, NIV1984)

This morning I have confessed my doubt before God. What an offense it must be to Him. The One who has been faithful time and time again. How can I lack confidence in Him? Distrust Him even, when all He does has been good and for my good.

May we not be blown and tossed about.
Ask.
Believe.
Do not doubt.

Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Friday and Grace & Truth .
