The other morning, I sat trying to read and the ruckus outside my window was deafening. The yard and trees in the woods were filled with crows, to the point I immediately posted …

photo-3After watching them a bit, I returned to read …

“Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable than any birds!” (Luke 12:24, NLT)

Ravens were considered unclean and common, yet Jesus points out that God cares for them. He uses ravens to point out, not only how God cares for them, but that we – you and I – are valuable to God.

Somehow in reading this familiar passage, I missed this part and jumped to the faithfulness of God’s provision. But for days now, I have returned to read again and again that we are valuable to our God.

Valuable (thank you, dictionary.com):

  • having considerable monetary worth
  • costing or bringingƂĀ  a high price
  • having qualities worthy of respect, admiration, or esteem

We have great worth in the eyes of our Maker. So much so that He paid a high price for us, the life of His Son. In each of us, He sees qualities which He – God, the Maker of all things – respects and admires and esteems in us.

He loves us!

We must allow this truth to sink and settle deep in our souls, for the world would seek to strip us of our self-worth each and every day. Isaiah 43:4 tells us,

“Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell of the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.”ƂĀ  (The Message)

Let it sink in today.
Believe it!
God loves you!
You are valuable to Him!
