This morning I sit scrolling through my phone and reading a text conversation which took place one night last week. A difficult and challenging work situation was the topic of discussion.

The texts went back and forth and quite honestly, I did not have an answer other than to say …

“It may all work out in ways you cannot see right now.”

My words were not an uttered platitude but a truth which needed to be stated as a reminder.

Trust is like that … it takes us where we cannot always see. If we could see, it would not be trust.

We have become people who are accustomed to seeing movie trailers in order to then decide whether the entire movie is worth seeing. We base our decision on those little bits and pieced designed to whet our appetite for the full feature.

But God desires for us to trust Him without the trailer. He will lead us as He sees fit and knows is for our good.

To be honest, it can be very annoying at times. But this morning, I am reminded that I am not better than those of old …

  • Noah built an ark without ever having seen rain before
  • Abraham went without knowing where he was going
  • Moses led a people in circles through an unknown wilderness
  • Jonah could not see his escape from the belly of a whale
  • Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were hoping the fire department would show up
  • And Daniel was hoping for a lion tamer

Like them, we are often called to keep our eyes on the One who is invisible but ever with us. It is so easy for me to forget that each of them was our human as I. Their journey presented difficulties I may never know but I can learn from their experiences. Even when there was no hope, they believed. They continued on with God.

Why?

They were “fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” (Romans 4:21)

May we be fully convinced, our minds made up that our God is faithful to us. He has not left us unequipped …

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.” (2 Peter 1:3, NLT)

We are an equipped people.
May we never forget that.
He has given us everything we need.
