There are days in which God shows up in the most amazing way that our response can only be to proclaim His goodness, His faithfulness, His love and His mercy. And today is one of those days!

For over a year now I have been involved with The Lulu Tree, a non-profit ministry in Katwe, Uganda which exists to prevent tomorrow’s orphans by equipping today’s mothers.

“Every year, more than half a million women die as a result of pregnancy or childbirth complications, including about 70,000 girls and young women aged 15 to 19,” says Ann M. Veneman, UNICEF executive director.”

Lulu-Mama-Pregnancy-KitLulu Mama Kits provide hope to women in Uganda who are otherwise unable to deliver their babies in hospitals. Without these necessary supplies, mothers are giving birth in unsanitary conditions or are forced to share supplies with others, often spreading and contracting the HIV/AIDS virus.

Our Lulu-Uganda national director, Esther, felt God calling her to go into medical centers to bring assembled Mama Kits to pregnant women. Esther and several women, currently in The Lulu Tree program, went with Esther to give out the kits, spread the Gospel, and the love of Jesus. They went supplied with about 100 kits, truly not knowing what to expect.

In preparation of this day of ministry, it was announced on the Katwe Village Radio. And then we prayed. Those of us serving on the Board and in leadership positions were called to pray through the night as the team in Katwe went out.

We woke this morning and waited for news.

“How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.” (Psalm 31:19, NLT)

When the news came, we could hardly contain ourselves. God showed up in Katwe today in a huge way. Over 500 pregnant mamas showed up to receive the mama kits!!! Read that and weep for the 500 pregnant women who showed up desperate for help.

The community leaders have begged The Lulu Tree to supply more mama kits. We thought 100 would be more than enough and we needed 5X the amount. The need is great but our God is greater and able to supply all that is needed.

The Lulu Tree will be sending money so that Esther and the mamas can purchase the supplies and assemble the kits there in Katwe. Won’t you consider partnering with us in this project? You can find out more about the mama kits and how you can help on this PAGE .

I’d be ever so grateful if you helped.

So would the mamas.

May God be glorified in & through it all.
