“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering …..” (2 Timothy 4:6, NIV)
“Natural human love expects something in return. But Paul is saying, “It doesn’t really matter to me whether you love me or not. I am willing to be completely destitute anyway; willing to be poverty-stricken, not just for your sakes, but also that I may be able to get you to God.
The apostle Paul had no conditions or reservations. Paul focused his life on Jesus Christ’s idea of a New Testament saint; that is, not one who merely proclaims the gospel, but one who becomes broken bread and poured-out wine in the hands of Jesus Christ for the sake of others.”
(from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers)
Today I am joining …. Give Me Grace and Spiritual Sundays and Word of God Speak and Scripture & A Snapshot .
Love freely given is a gift. A gift that doesn’t expect anything in return and one that is given from the heart. It makes me think of the unconditional love of Jesus that is ours everyday even the ones we mess up. We are truly redeemed when we are brought back close to the Father because of his redeeming grace and love. Thank you for these beautiful words today.
It is so true, Mary. May we always remember how Christ poured Himself out for each one of us.
The beauty of a life lived pour out, like Jesus did, is unforgettable when you see someone living like that. Honestly, I’ve got a lot of self that fights me living fully, wholly poured out. God help me!
Yes, Elizabeth, me too. The words were a reminder for me. May we live to give, expecting nothing in return. Blessings today!
Love that photo. Water is such a vivid picture of movement and blessing and cleansing. Thankful that God encourages us to pour out in this way!
Water truly brings a vivid picture to our minds. For me, it was one of refreshment for as we bring refreshment to others, we ourselves are refreshed.
Great illustration. Thank you.
