Friday means looking at the word prompt and joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Many of us writing on that same word.

Today’s prompt is … Park.

I hesitate to share on this word prompt as I would bet any amount of money {{if I were a betting woman}} that it probably took me down a different path than most.

Most will probably think of a trip to the park or a walk in the park. But not me …

I read the word prompt and immediately toddlers came to my mind – both my own and my granddaughters. I remember the times they needed to be “timed out” against their wishes. struggling to sit apart from any and all activity. The words would come from my mouth,

“Park it right here!”

I wanted them to sit quiet and still. It would be the only way they would be able to concentrate, hear, and absorb what I was about to tell them. It was the only way I could help to keep them safe or from doing something that would bring harm to themselves.

I read the word prompt – park – and I wonder how many times the Lord has told me to “Park it right here!”

park-it

He slows us down, calling us to sit calmly with Him and hear what He has to say. He longs for us to spend time with Him and He with us. He desires to speak into our lives, if only we would stop our activity, park it, and let Him have our full and undivided attention.

“Be still, and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10, NLT)
