We should be good friends with our locksmith. We seem to frequently be in need of copies for our front door key. Not sure how it occurs, but somehow it ends up that we only have one set which leaves someone, or two, needing a key. As I put my new key on my key ring, the familiar words come softly:

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” (Isaiah 33:6, NIV)

There are benefits to maintaining a daily walk with God. We need to spend time with God each day. It takes time. It takes effort. In this small portion of Scripture,  we learn there is much to be gained when we are consistent:

  1. Strength and deliverance will be ours. When we may think that we will not have enough strength or energy to get through the demands of the day, He infuses us with exactly what we need. “Give us strength each morning!  Deliver us when distress comes. “  (Isaiah 33:2).
  2. Stability. When situations are changing, when it may seem like life is in chaos, He is the one that remains faithful, stable, bringing security. ”He will be the sure foundation for your times” . Or as another version puts it, “He is your constant source of stability….”Â   (Isaiah 33:6a).
  3. Salvation, wisdom and knowledge are made available to us. He imparts to us that which we need to live applying wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to circumstances we face. “… a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge…” (Isaiah 33:6b).

These are the benefits we need in our lives each and every day in order to navigate our steps.

This blessed relationship with God and all that we receive from Him is “a treasure”. This is to be cherished, esteemed,  and held onto above anything else in this world. He is the key to all other treasure, or good,  in our lives. Today may we walk in the assurance that..

“He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”
