February rolls in and with it come reminders of groundhogs and love. Valentine cards and candies surround us everywhere we go.

Love – such a strong and tender emotion. It’s the basis of attachments towards those around us. Some are easy to love, we call them lovable; and others, present a challenge. Yet we are called to love all.

This, therefore, becomes the acid test for God’s children. The brethren must love one another; only if we love one another are we truly brethren.

(from the book, Love One Another by Watchman Nee, page 159)

Love becomes the evidence of our lives. It should be our brand, our trademark, how we are known.

“If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.” (1 John 3:14, NLT)

Since God is love, He works and moves in our lives to enable us to love the people He places in our lives.

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 3:18, NLT)

Written in the margin of my Bible, I have written:

“Belief without love = A Pharisee
Love without belief = A Humanitarian
Both = A Child of God”

(source unknown)

We possess the ability to love one another because God implants His love into our hearts. God gives us opportunities to exhibit and express His love.

More people will be won over by love than hate. In our interactions with others, we are not to offend. We should be gentle and kind to all. These are the qualities which will draw people to us and point them to God.

Love – the acid test.
It’s the evidence of our faith and life in Jesus.
