The name Warren Wiersbe brings to mind the many books on my Kindle included in his Bible Study Series and Be series.

The Wiersbe Study Bible brings his lifetime of insight and life application in one study Bible. Using the New King James Version for its accuracy and clarity makes this an easy to read text and a wonderful study Bible.

This Bible includes the following features which enhance one’s time reading and reflecting on Scripture:

  • Book Introductions. Each introduction brings understanding to the background, themes, and other key facts.
  • Book Outlines. Here the key theme and key verse helps one to understand the flow of each book.
  • Book Overviews. A conversational overview with practical lessons which Dr. Wiersbe gleaned from each book.
  • “Be Transformed”. These notes direct the reader to the life-changing impact of various parts of Scripture.
  • Catalyst Notes. These comments from Dr. Wiersbe are “intended to motivate readers to have their lives transformed as the Holy Spirit applies the Word of God.”
  • Study Notes. These are expository notes from Dr. Wiersbe in which he explains Bible passages both in what they mean and how they are to be applied to life.
  • Cross References. Extensive cross references show how the Scriptures interact and how they interpret each other.
  • Concordance. This index to key Scriptures helps to locate a verse or related verses topically.
  • Index of Preaching Outlines. These outlines come from Dr. Wiersbe’s “Be Series”. They are helpful in organizing a preaching or teaching series.
  • Maps. These will help one to locate significant places and bring clarity to biblical accounts.

I personally found the study notes to be a rich treasure, explaining and opening Scripture in a meaningful and applicable way. In the foreword, Dr. Wiersbe writes:

“Reading the Bible but not obeying it is like reading the menu but not eating the meal. The Word of God can be applied to every area of our lives, and because it has divine energy, it can work deep within us and change us (Eph. 3:20, 21; Phil. 2:12,13).

This is a wonderful Bible and resource for study. However, it is not lightweight and easy to carry around. But it will surely be a valuable and treasured Bible, enhancing anyone’s time spent in studying Scripture.
