Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Vision.
Vision – “the act or power of sensing with the eyes; sight.” (dictionary.com)
But this was not the definition that caught my attention … “a vivid, imaginative conception or anticipation.”
Vision can be an anticipation, a waiting of to see with one’s eyes something that is in your thoughts.
“Then the Lord answered me and said, “Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:2-3, NASB)
The last few years have been challenging ones for everyone, no matter their age, no matter where they live, and no matter the choices one makes.
But this I know – God has a plan and He is working it out, in His time and in His way.
And so, I have visions of life …
where there are no more wars,
where lives are not torn apart and families separated,
where there is no illnesses, no virus,
where there is no isolation,
where everyone is a friend and has a friend,
where right always wins,
where everyone does what is right,
where no one is wronged,
where time heals all hearts and wounds,
where every injustice is made right,
where everyone is kind and generous,
where there is no violence,
where race is not something we see in others,
where everyone has food and clean water,
where every knee will bow and call Him, Lord.
And that day will come for His Word promises us He will return.
The vision is for an appointed time,
though it tarries, we will wait for it.

Today I may be joining …
I would love to join you in that world.
I have a vision of the world
in years that lie ahead
where no hated flag’s unfurled
o’er bodies of the dead.
I have a vision of a land
where hearts need not be torn,
and we might come to understand
the tears of the unborn.
I dimly see a leadership
out there in the mists
that is not on a power trip
but in fact resists
the notion that we’re not all brothers,
not bound to hating one another.
Amen. I think we are having the same visions, my friend.
Hi Joanne … the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title of your post was that wonderful old hymn, ‘Be Thou My Vision.’ It’s one of those songs that comes in the night, that helps me focus on the Lord, that gives my mind rest and my heart peace. Thank you for taking us there today.
Bless you.
It is such a beautiful song and I shall now be humming it all day.
I pray we all will seek Him and be ready on the day He comes.
Yes & Amen.
Amen. A heavenly vision. Thy Kingdom Come. Thank you. #FMF 13
Beautiful visions, Joanne! can’t wait to behold them with you!
Joining you in your vision. I also join you in praying every knee will bow and call him Lord. Blessings.

A beautiful, hope-filled vision to hold on to.
A lovely vision of a world which I would love to be a part of too. Oh to see ourselves and our world through the lenses of love!
