The other night, I was suddenly struck with how dark it had become. I had not looked at the clock, was unaware as to the time, and thought it was much later. To look at the clock and discover the actual and correct time, was surprising to me. Several questions went through my mind:

• Was it this dark yesterday at this time?
• When did it become so dark so early?
• How had I missed the progression of darkness?

Seriously. Have you ever noticed that we are not aware of how dark it is until the light is gone?

Romans 1:21 tells us something about this process:

“For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (NASB)
