I am reading “Life Interrupted” by Priscilla Shirer. Great book by the way. I read this statement referring to God & why we experience tough spots in life:

“He’s put you in a tough spot so you’ll get to see just how incredibly strong & sufficient your God is.” (page 43 of the above mentioned book).

I think we may have it backwards. We tend to think that the tough spots in life show how strong, self-sufficient or body able we are. That is not the point of life’s difficulties at all. It is in those tough spots that we get to see how strong our God is. It is then that we experience His sufficiency in all things.

The author further writes:

“Your life is God’s story being told & His character being displayed. So how does it read? What does it tell others about the God you serve? Will you dare to believe there’s a message in this mess? It’s quite possibly the best story some people will ever read.”          (page 43).

It is God’s story. He is the Author. It is His plot being developed. He is the one determining the storyline. As I dare to believe in this story that He is telling in & through my life, it is possible that others may see God displayed in His glory. Here’s the thing – It is HIS story to tell, not mine. And it is a story that only He can tell.

The author continues:

“Your life may be a bit distressing at the moment or more overwhelming than you’d prefer, but this is the setting where God’s creativity turns ordinary people into timeless classics.” (page 44).

The choice is really up to each one of us. We can go through life as ordinary people or yield to our God & let Him in all of His creativity do something mighty in our lives.

Paul put it this way:

“However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him.”Â  (1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV).

That means there is just no way that we can ever out dream our God & what He has for our lives. So what are we to do?

             Hand Him the pen.

                           Let Him write.

Let Him write His story in our lives.
