oday I am thinking about how each of us are unique. We all have different strengths & weaknesses. We each have varied talents. None of us are the same & how beautiful it is when we work together within the parameters that God has ordained for us.
Yesterday we had so many that were out from sickness in our children’s ministry. It was beautiful how we moved around & covered for one another. My own husband, in the toddler class, was panicking at how he would do the arts & crafts with 4 & 5 year olds. How comforting it was to inform him that he would be working along side a substitute who is so talented in that very area.
In reading yesterday afternoon, I came across this:
If you were meant to cure cancer or write a symphony or crack cold fusion and you don’t do it, you not only hurt yourself, even destroy yourself, you hurt your children. You hurt me. You hurt the planet.
….you spite the Almighty, who created you & only you with your unique gifts, for the sole purpose of nudging the human race one millimeter farther along its path to God.
Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It’s a gift to the world & every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.

How good is that!! Seriously. Those gifts & talents that God has deposited into each of our lives are meant to bless others. They are not solely for our own benefit. Paul, in his letter to the Romans, puts it this way:
“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” (Romans 12: 6-8 NLT).
   Perhaps we could say, “There is only one you. So be the best you that you can be!”
